I recently found the new Kevin Smith show SPOILERS and I've been meaning to ask you guys about it. Have you guys seen it? It's a great show that involves some of my favorite things: free movie watching, talking crap about movies, and learning about movies and movie making and popcorn, I imagine popcorn.
Seriously? you guys would roar if you heard my friends and me before picking a movie on a Saturday. Us talking about what movie to see and who has the best and who has the worst taste in picking movies. Now, before I admit to anything, I HAVE TO explain, one of the reasons I pick movies that may seem unlikely choices for a smart adult male and not the best choices to watch, of any sane person, really, is this: of course the movies that get great reviews and have classy studied actors are the obvious choice for smart peoples and I loose interest because of that. Publicity has worked on these. Weird, I know. I want to be surprised and totally hopeful that I'll discover a gem, a diamond in the rough all my own, something that may have seeped through the publicity machinations. I hope to watch something that I'm not told to love because it's so well written by the writer of such and such and getter (yes, I said getter) of so many Oscars for best and most stylish belts worn and critically loved and so on and so forth. I want to love something without being told to love it. If at worst, it's just a fun weekend watching a BLAH movie and hanging with friends, than that is good enough time, for me. But if I go watch one and it's a movie that I wasn't expecting to adore and after watching I am so surprised to not just like but love, then ...that's entertainment!(that happened recently with JEFFWHOLIVESATHOME,JASONSEGAL)-we cool? cool.
Okay so the premise of the show is they watch a movie and after they sit around and talk about it with KEVIN SMITH. I am not making this up, there is such a show and you can still watch it on HULU. Type in SPOILERS and begin a love affair. This one episode, they were reviewing the movie The Watch (BTW it sounds like exactly what I expected from that movie.-four times watching the trailer and nothing stuck out in my mind? TSK TSK), It's a good show. I watched another episode later, they have what they call the Criterion collection, for obvious reasons, and in the section, Kevin picks movies to recommend, suddenly he picks the movie Wings Of Desire (City Of Angels is based on Wings of Desire) I thought WTF! I LOVE Wings Of Desire! I never hear anyone talk about Wings of Desire. It's too arty and foreign. Anyway, check it out. You never know what you'll learn if you love watching movies.
The season is finished, but be sure to check it out on HULU. This show is so cool. Swing on over and check out what has been going on in Universal Studio while you have been busy at work. KEVIN SMITH!
I hope you guys find this blog, 10% as entertaining as I found Spoilers.
