HELLO WORLD!!! HOW ARE THINGS GOING? I AM POSTING A BIT LATE. IT SEEMS LIKE MY JOB (I DO HAVE ONE, FOR REALZ) JUST GOT OUT OF CONTROL. I WENT FROM WORKING ONE DAY TO THE NEXT BACK TO BACK UNTIL THE WEEK WAS FINALLY OVER.
HERE I AM, THOUGH, ALIVE AND THANKFUL THAT YOU GUYS ARE ALL DOING WELL, REGARDLESS OF HOW YOUR TEAM IS DOING AT THE WORLD CUP. WE WILL LIVE. YOU JUST HAVE TO BE READY FOR ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING. ARE YOU READY?
Awright... here is a good one. Mr Grieves. This is one of those quintessential PIXIES song that will keep you coming back for more. I cannot imagine how many times we played this one. This song instantly changes the atmosphere of any room or car. People's face change when this song comes on, for reals. It is electric. It always reminded me of The VIOLENT FEMMES, you know the one, it has the power to change the actual atmosphere of the room. WOW. Now most of their songs are awesome as a rule, that is just THE PIXIES. They never really put out anything that didn't sound striking or interesting, as a rule. That is one of the reasons most people went nuts when they starting putting songs out. Charles (Black Francis) really really didn't want a boring band, We thank him, from the bottom of our hearts that always beat a little faster when their music comes on. I am sure they've made people live longer by exercising their hearts. He wanted to be very rock and roll and was seemingly very self aware. It was a recipe for success and all sorts of other things...so many other things.
Played loud enough I think this song can change molecules- manwasIdrunk

Sorry about posting so late I was sooo tired last night I couldn't keep my eyes open.
It's the PIXIES!!!!
It does not feel right to have this week not
feature the joyous assault of Doolittle. It called me, it beckoned, it
seemed ideal and I took action. There it sits. It has been blaring from
my boombox nonstop these past couple of days. I am quite sure my
neighbors (or is that neighbours?- hello UK!). Do not appreciate
suddenly hearing the first odd beats of the base to TAME only to find
themselves, all to soon, to be a witness to someone tremendously
enjoying themselves to a set of songs, ridiculously so over the top,
energy-wise. My neighbors are not that near, so please do not worry
about that being an assault on them. It is a self-assault, if you will. A
fun exorcism of sorts. Besides, it is never too late or to early in the
evening in the morning. However, make no mistake, it is undeniable that
someone is enjoying themselves a bit too much. This song lends itself
to the idea that people are thrashing around a room, violently being
tossed from one side of a room to the other. Truth be told, that's not
very far off.
I haven't listened to this album much since it came out much, probably
because it was such a popular album that we played it every day to
ourselves then we played it non-stop whenever we would get together. It
was simply put: our favorite album as a group, and as an individual, at
least for me. Owning various copies, due to gifting and simply replacing
lost, stolen or wore out copies.
I would like to take this opportunity to say ...WHAT'S UUUUUPPP!!!!!
It
is now Monday and a whole new week is under way. Last week was very
interesting. I got so much done and I was surprised and didn't know I would feel like that is just a relief. See, I have been
in the process these last couple of years of downsizing. Not painting my
kitchen, not updating my bathroom. All of these things, my place
could use, I should point out. It is the accumulation of things, however, that is on my mind. I want less things in my life. Oh, I
like my things very much, that is not the problemo. It is simply the fact that I can only use so
much in this lifetime. I wish I could use all the things I own... all the
time. Imagine that: everything all the time (btw, my new favorite
phrase; album title-Band of Horses, song lyric-LIFE IN THE FAST LANE).
Say that out loud and tell me that doesn't sound awesome! EVERYTHING ALL
THE TIME. So much fun. Truth is, though that I spend far to much time dusting, cleaning and organizing things instead of enjoying them. I
spend way too much time trying to keep my paint supplies, and clay
organized and safe, instead of actually painting.
How is this for a beginning of a song? wistful much? Dreamy? ethereal for sure. This has got to be more than a couple of folks favorite WILCO song. I cannot blame them. It sounds almost perfect, seriously. You can imagine so many things that can hold meaning in this song. It depends on the mood you are in to dictate your opinion on this song. Forgettable is certainly not what this song is, though, of that you can be sure.
I was thinking about how memories and their relation to things puts more, or a heavier meaning to just about anything really and I lost myself in a series of memories for who knows how long. This song is perfect for that type of pondering on any given afternoon. Old friends, come and gone and come again and then gone again. Things we wished we said to people who are no longer in our lives. And then the reality that even if given the opportunity to say what you really wanted, to someone that you weren't able to earlier in your life because you thought you were too cowardly, might in fact take the courage to having all the memories, all the time you seek out these memories consciously or not, as a refuge, as a haven, as a happier time, to not be there for you. Can you imagine the courage to have it all be gone. The courage to no longer have those good times as great memories for the rest of your days. Can you do without your good memories?
